PhotoHunt: Flags

The PhotoHunt theme for this week is flags.
Colorful flags at the Rockefeller Center representing countries in the United Nations.
See if you can spot your country's flag :)

The Proposal

I've been looking forward to seeing this movie for more than a month and the other day I finally got to watch it with my brothers :) Yeah, they like cheesy chick flicks too!
First of all, let me say that Ryan Reynolds is insanely good-looking - in other words, he is super hot :) Scarlett Johansson is one lucky girl to be waking up to this hunk everyday. Anyway... any movie with Sandra Bullock will pretty much leave you feeling good inside and this movie is no different.

In The Proposal, Ryan's character plays an assistant to a boss from hell who's about to get deported to Canada. Sandra's character proposes to marry him so she could keep her job. It's a really fun, romantic comedy and it doesn't hurt that Ryan's such an eye-candy in every scene. So, if you like mushy stories, this one's for you :)

4GB RAM Upgrade For Dummies

For the past couple of months or so I've noticed that my MacBook (that I got in November 2007) seemed to be a little sluggish. Honestly, I was getting a little annoyed constantly seeing the spinning beach ball of death whenever I had to open iPhoto (with almost 25,000 pictures) or edit movies so I decided to upgrade my memory which was only 1GB.

For a minor surgery like this you will need:
- compatible RAM (I bought 2 sticks with 2GB each)
- a screwdriver
- 10 minutes of your time
- and of course your computer
1.) Disconnect your computer from the power supply and shut down it down.
2.) Turn it upside-down and take out the battery.
3.) Ground yourself by touching a piece of metal before handling any of the computer parts to protect it from static electricity.
4.) Unscrew the metal covering of the RAM slots (this varies by what model of computer you have).
5.) When the RAM sockets are exposed, press the latches outward to dislodge the old memory...
6.) Take those out and put the new ones in. Make sure to only pinch the edges of the module and not touch the face or any circuitry...
7.) Reassemble your laptop, power it up and check if the new memory is recognized...
And it is! Mission accomplished :)

Litratong Pinoy: Dito Lang

Beauty Junky

Some of my beauty acquisitions the past month or so (!)

A couple of brushes, concealer and primer.
Lipgloss.
More brushes.
Cleansers and moisturizers.
A bunch of body stuff...
Make-up and hand cream.
More make-up. Part of my Sephora haul.
Odds and ends.
Pretty eyeshadows...
I vow not to buy any more beauty products until I've used up what I already have... This may not be a lot for some serious beauty addicts out there but it certainly is for me, considering I've only recently started to be interested in beauty and skin care. But really, no more buying stuff related to this subject until I finish this and the rest of the junk in my vanity :)

Google This!

For quite some time now I've had a fascination for Google's holiday logos... Google.com has been my homepage since forever and I always get a happy feeling whenever a day is special enough to warrant it's own "googlogo". Like this one for Braille day...
Cute!!! A Google tetris :)
And others...

For some reason, I've saved a screenshot of all those Google logos for I-don't-know-what :) I sometimes act strangely like that... Anyway, I guess I'll just share them with you and see if you also have little quirks like this you want to share :)

PhotoHunt: Creamy

The PhotoHunt theme for this week is creamy.

First up is one of the more popular frozen yogurt brands - Pinkberry. Mmm...
Really creamy stroke-inducing gnocchi from the Olive Garden.
And a white and dark chocolate fountain at the Bellagio. Awesome.

Litratong Pinoy: Imposible Ba Ito?

PhotoHunt: Lock

The pictures in my PhotoHunt contribution this week were taken almost two years ago in Ripley's Believe It Or Not! in New York City. I got my brother to model for me showing methods to lock people up in the olden times.

First up is the pillory used in medieval times for torture and punishment by public humiliation. The prisoner locked here would be displayed in a public place and thus was subjected to scorn, insults, injury and abuse from the local people. They were also exposed to daily heat and/or cold and it was not uncommon for the offender to die by heat exhaustion or frostbite. I'm getting chills thinking about it.
This medieval iron mask is another torture instrument used to lock people up and starve them to death in the process... Very creepy indeed! Makes you wonder how people invented this stuff for the suffering of other people...

Litratong Pinoy: Pangarap Ko

PhotoHunt: Advertisement

Advertisement is the PhotoHunt theme for this week. What better picture to share than the advertisement central of New York City - Times Square. Hundreds of ad campaigns are displayed in the heart of midtown Manhattan promoting banks, businesses, Broadway shows, products, etc. etc. etc.
I even accidentally shot my own advertisement :) The lady in black is an actual model shooting for an ad campaign, I didn't see the photographer until after my friend pointed him out to me [he was standing a couple of yards behind me with a ginormous lens]. I immediately stepped out of the way when I realized I was blocking his view of the model! I mean, I didn't even know she was modeling when I noticed her walking around, I just thought to myself, "Wow, she's so glammed up for daytime."

Anyway, I hope a shot of my back doesn't land on a fashion magazine... :)

Litratong Pinoy: Misyon

Taking It All Off

I'm pretty new at wearing eyeshadow - only been using it for the past 8 months or so. It's funny how we girls put on all sorts of waterproof mascara and primers to make the make-up last only to slave away taking it off in the sink after a couple of hours...

Anyway, I chanced upon this product from The Face Shop a couple of months ago and it's just so cool and works very well for me that I had to share it.
You could see the suds already forming, ready to get your eyes squeaky clean again without all the rubbing on your delicate eye area. It only takes 2 swipes and your make-up is history!
This is perfect to take while traveling or to stash in the car for those late nights when you're too tired to take off your make-up :)

Wallet Damage

I went out yesterday to get a bridal shower gift. Here's what I came home with...
I got a few things for the bride but couldn't resist buying stuff for myself too :)
Couldn't pass up the make-up section, just had to try these...
Glittery green eyeshadow.
Vicky's Secret isn't really known for its make-up as much as it is renowned for its lingerie and lotions, but yes, they do have a collection called Beauty Rush which is all make-up and it makes me happy :)
